SBAT Trail Walk

  • Route: Start at the Lake Ann Back 40 Trailhead going South to North. From the Parking lot, go East on Pinyon Creek Trail at the triangle intersection
  • Turn right (east) the Pinyon Creek Trail cross Trafalgar Dr turn left (north) on SBAT Trail it is 2.33 to Trailhead
  • Finish up at SBAT/Back 40 Loop Trail-head. (E. Lancashire Blvd & Gainford Dr)
  • Surface: The trail is the soft-surface trail. It is a single track design.
  • Rating: It is rated has a blue square medium rating.
  • Distance: It is a lovely walk of 2.9 miles. It took about 1 ½ hour. Going South to North, there is a 270 foot of climbing and 194 foot of descent when walked south to north. North to South, there is 194 climb and 270 of descent.
  • Parking: There is good parking at Lake Ann Trailhead and SBAT/Back 40 Loop Trailhead
  • Notes: The SBAT Trail has a crush stone surface, good shoes are a must. The surface is hard-packed than most other trails. The climbs out of the canyons are long and steady, and there are no steep climbs. SBAT runs through a fascinating area. The valley floors are wide Aand flat. There thousand of interesting large rocks along the route. There are very few views of houses and people, and you feel like you're out in the woods. SBAT is one of the most interesting Back-40 walks.
