Substation to Metfield GC

Pinyon Creek/The Ledges to Metfield Golf course

  • Route: Start at Carroll Electic Substation at 16039 Weybridge Dr. From the intersection of The Ledges Trail, Back 40 Trail, and Pinyon Creek Trail, head south on the Back 40 Trail.
  • The route is relatively straightforward stay on back forty until you get to Commonwealth Rd. We packed the chase car on Pennine Cr; it is about 200 yards west of the trail crossing.
  • Surface: The trail is the soft-surface trail. It is a single track design.
  • Rating: It is rated has a blue square more difficult rating.
  • Distance: This is the comfortable walk of 2 miles. It took about 45 minutes. There was a 240-foot elevation change during this walk.
  • Parking: There is self-made parking at Carroll Electric Substation on Weybridge Dr., and we parked on the street on Pennine Cr.
  • Notes: This route is mostly uphill, but there are not steep incline or long slopes. We were surprised to learn the amount of elevation change. The path rolls up and down. There are some incredible views of The Ledges Trail across the valley; there is a little question where the name came. We came across a pleasant small stream and waterfall. You don't see any homes on this walk; you get the feeling your walking in Bambies front yard.
  • Carry water and a phone when walking the trails.
